Geosynthetic-reinforced and pile-supported embankments: theoretical discussion of finite difference numerical analyses results

چکیده

Piled foundations are commonly employed to reduce settlements of artificial earth embankments on soft soil strata and geosynthetic reinforcements installed at the embankment base increase pile spacing construction costs. Despite well-documented effectiveness this technique, mechanical processes, developing during in different elements constituting ‘geo-structure’, not fully understood design approaches based very simplified assumptions. They disregard deformability various system cannot be estimate settlements. With aim introducing a displacement-based approach optimise use piles, article, response is studied by means large displacement non-linear finite difference numerical analyses, which reinforcement modelled as an elastic membrane. The arching effect within body described evolution process zone, where shear strains localise, discussed. global terms (i) average, (ii) differential top (iii) maximum tensile force reinforcement.

A Simplified Method for Analysis of Geosynthetic Reinforcement Used in Pile Supported Embankments

The inclusion of geosynthetic reinforcement in the piled embankment can help transfer loads to the piles and reduce total and differential settlements. In order to select the appropriate reinforcement material, the reasonable calculation of the deflection and tension is very important. Current design methods usually do not represent the true three-dimensional (3D) nature of the displacements, s...

Theoretical, numerical, and experimental analyses of free vibrations of glass fiber reinforced polymer plates with central cutouts and free boundaries

This study explored the free vibration problem in relation to glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) plates with central cutouts and free boundaries using theoretical, experimental, and numerical methods. The theoretical formulations were derived from the classical lamination plate theory. The rectangular cutout was mathematically modeled into the stiffness matrix of the plate by multiplying Hea...

Some numerical results on two classes of finite groups

In this paper, we consider the finitely presented groups $G_{m}$ and $K(s,l)$ as follows;$$G_{m}=langle a,b| a^m=b^m=1,~[a,b]^a=[a,b],~[a,b]^b=[a,b]rangle $$$$K(s,l)=langle a,b|ab^s=b^la,~ba^s=a^lbrangle;$$and find the $n^{th}$-commutativity degree for each of them. Also we study the concept of $n$-abelianity on these groups, where $m,n,s$ and $l$ are positive integers, $m,ngeq 2$ and $g.c.d(s,...

Dynamic Analysis of Embankments Reinforced with Micro-Piles

Application of micro-piles to stabilize unstable slopes has been widely considered in recent years. A micro-pile is a small-diameter (typically less than 300 mm), drilled, and grouted as non-displacement pile that is typically reinforced. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the influence of the micro-pile group on increasing safety factor as well as finding the optimum position of m...
